Experience Goods-to-Person in practice

See for yourself how modern order picking can feel when walking distances are reduced, ergonomic working conditions are enabled, and processes are clearly structured.

In our FAST PICK station, the Goods-to-Person principle becomes tangible – not as theory, but live in operation. Bring your products and experience how efficiently pallet loading can be organized today. Gain a practical insight – transparent, understandable, and without obligation – as we demonstrate together how modern order picking works in a real production environment.

A transparent practical test with your products

Bring your own products or use WINKEL sample products and test them under real conditions in our FAST PICK station at Plant 3..

The FAST PICK Live Test takes place directly at WINKEL Plant 3. You bring your own products, which we integrate into the system during a 2–3 hour test session.

Together, we review material flow, pallet structure, ergonomic movement patterns, and potential efficiency gains.

The appointment is intended solely for practical evaluation – without sales pressure or contractual obligation.

Traditional Picking
Costs more than just Time!

In many operations, picking processes have evolved historically – and are therefore often inefficient.

Traditional order picking frequently involves long walking distances, repeated lifting, and manual process steps. Employees move through warehouse aisles, search for items, turn, reach, and transport them – step by step.

These workflows do not only consume time, but also place physical strain on employees and increase the likelihood of errors. With growing product variety and increasing throughput, inefficient routes quickly become a structural problem.

As cost pressure rises and skilled labor becomes harder to find, it becomes clear: Traditional Processes are Reaching Their Limits.

What can you Expect?

FAST PICK in real operation

The FAST PICK Live Test takes place directly at WINKEL Plant 3 – under real conditions and within an active production environment. Together, we integrate your own products into our FAST PICK station and demonstrate step by step how the Goods-to-Person principle works in practice.

You will experience the entire process across two levels:
In the upper area, ergonomic pallet picking takes place. Once the pallet is fully loaded, it is automatically transported to the lower level, where it is further processed and wrapped. This gives you a complete view of the workflow – from incoming goods to the finished pallet.

What modern order picking looks like

The focus is not on a presentation, but on a practical test. Together, we analyze workflows, movement patterns, and ergonomic aspects, and openly discuss potential improvements and requirements.

The key points of your test appointment:

  • You bring your own products
  • 2–3 hours of live testing at Plant 3
  • Analysis of ergonomics and workflow
  • Personal exchange with our experts
  • No obligation

Insights into the FAST PICK Live Test

What will you take away from the FAST PICK Live Test?

After the FAST PICK Live Test, you will have a realistic assessment of how the Goods-to-Person principle affects your specific products and processes.

You will gain clear insights into:

  • Which walking distances can be eliminated
  • How ergonomic strain can be reduced
  • What impact on throughput and process structure is possible
  • Whether the system fits your organization

This creates not a theoretical evaluation, but a solid basis for further decision.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

The Goods-to-Person principle (GTP) is a warehouse automation solution in which products are automatically brought to the picking station. Employees receive the required items without having to move significantly from their position, for example via conveyor systems or autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

This reduces walking distances, improves ergonomics, and enables structured, efficient picking processes.

In the traditional Person-to-Goods principle (PTG), employees move through the warehouse to pick items from shelves or storage locations. This process often involves longer walking distances and greater physical strain.

The FAST PICK Live Test has already been used by companies from various industries where mixed goods need to be picked efficiently. These include, for example:

  • Food and retail logistics
  • Automotive industry, particularly spare parts logistics
  • Pharmaceutical and healthcare sector
  • Frozen and fresh goods logistics
  • Drugstore and consumer goods retail
  • E-commerce and online retail

Tests are typically carried out using the participating companies’ real products, allowing workflows and ergonomics to be evaluated under practical conditions.

Alternatively, tests can also be conducted using sample items from the WINKEL product range if you prefer not to bring your own products.

In general, typical picking items can be tested, such as cartons, packaged units, or mixed goods shipments.

It is important that the products are representative of your real picking process. In advance, we will coordinate together which items are best suited for the FAST PICK Live Test.

After your request, we will contact you personally to arrange a suitable appointment.

Together we will clarify organizational details, the number of participants, and the products to be brought along. The test session at Plant 3 usually lasts 2–3 hours.

We generally recommend a small, focused group of ideally up to five participants – for example from the areas of logistics, production, or process planning.

This ensures sufficient time for discussion, analysis, and individual questions during the test.

Yes. You test, experience, and evaluate – nothing more. The FAST PICK Live Test is a technical hands-on session available on request. Its purpose is the transparent evaluation of ergonomics, workflow, and system integration based on your products.

The appointment is not tied to any contractual conditions and does not oblige you to take any further steps. Whether you decide to pursue the topic afterwards is entirely up to you.
