WINKEL GmbH secures major order for order picking in the steel industry
WINKEL GmbH, a leading provider of automation solutions, has received a significant order to supply order picking systems to a well-known steel supplier in the USA. This order includes the installation of six axis gantries and two telescopic transfer units for handling sheet and coil material.
The systems are specially designed to meet the challenges of the steel industry, with maximum load dimensions of 7,600 mm in length, 1,000 mm in width and 600 mm in height. The maximum load capacity of the materials to be handled is 2,800 kg.
The axle gantries are designed in the robust SLE version, which is particularly resistant to dirt and is ideal for use in the steel industry. These gantries offer impressive travel ranges of up to 60 metres in the X-axis, 8 metres in the Y-axis and 3.5 metres in the Z-axis. With travelling speeds of up to 2.5 m/s in the X-axis and 1.0 m/s in the Y- and Z-axis, they enable efficient and fast material movement.
The gantries are also equipped with innovative friction wheel technology and telescopic vertical axes, which enable precise and flexible handling of materials. For maintenance work, the systems are equipped with walk-on platforms along the X and Y axes, which increases accessibility and safety for maintenance personnel.
This major order underlines WINKEL GmbH's leading role in the development and supply of state-of-the-art automation solutions for heavy industry and consolidates its position in the American market. With these advanced systems, the customer will be able to significantly increase its operational efficiency and optimise the handling of large and heavy materials.
